Recently I shipped a car from Canada to the US. More specifically Montreal to Southern California.
This undertaking can be a bit intimidating with customs, paperwork etc.
If you hire a company to do the cross border transportstion, be prepared to pay for the service, upwards of $5k.
If you were to get the vehicle across the border yourself, then the shipping becomes more than 60% off, even though its shipping almost the exact same distance!
I prepared all my paperwork, and crossed the border with ease. The border agent asked for my passport, but didn't ask for any paperwork of the vehicle. He said, "have a nice day"!
Wow, I was wonderstruck!
He obviously is familiar with the freight forward company that is one mile from the border, and waved me through.
Transport trucks arent in upstate New York everyday, so having a storage location to wait for a transportation trucj is key.
I had the vehicle shipped for 1700 from NY to California, plus minimal storage fees for 2 weeks awaiting the transport truck (22 wheeler, with 10 vehicle spots).
The whole process was smooth and easy!
