A Gansey is a traditional fisherman's sweater from the UK or eastern North Sea. Traditionally they are knit in the round up to the armholes and the body separates at the arm holes with the front and back being knit separately "flat".

In "my first gansey" project I decided to continue knitting in the round for the whole depth of the body, and to cut the armholes after I had picked up the stitches for the arms.

This video shows the moment of cutting along the centre of the steek to create the armholes.
