Kobe Bryant is a retired American professional basketball player. Widely regarded as one of the greatest to ever step out on the hardwood, Bryant was drafted with the 13th pick in the 1996 NBA Draft out of Lower Merion High School. Coming into the league as a raw athlete, Kobe developed various parts of his game throughout his career. During the mid-2000s, he became known as a premier scorer and shooter with the rare ability to make contested, and often considered “bad” shots. However, Kobe’s decline came after a series of injuries where he tore his ACL, broke his kneecap, and tore his rotator cuff. Although Kobe was still able to play at a high level and had spurts, he never truly was the same player. Kobe is most known for his scoring outburst in which he put up 81 points against the Toronto Raptors, the second most in NBA history. Additionally, his career was capped off with a 60-point performance against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
During his lengthy career, Kobe racked up several accolades. He was a 15x All-NBA, 12x All-Defensive, 3rd All-Time Points, 18x NBA All-Star, 4x All-Star Game MVP, Regular Season MVP, 2x Scoring Champion, and 2x Finals MVP.
