After 10 years of building games in Scratch, I decided it was time to move on.

With over 7,000 followers on my now-banned Scratch account, I had basically mastered everything the platform could offer. But Scratch, while great for beginners, has its limits—so I ditched it and switched to Unity.

In this video, I take you through my journey of transitioning from Scratch to Unity, and trust me, it wasn’t easy. Unity’s powerful game engine came with a steep learning curve, from learning C# to navigating entirely new concepts like gameobjects and physics. But once I got the hang of it, I realized Unity could take my games to a whole new level—3D environments, multiplayer capabilities, and even the ability to publish to platforms like Steam and mobile app stores.

I also reflect on what I miss about Scratch: its simplicity, fast prototyping, and the ease of snapping blocks together to bring ideas to life. But for anyone serious about game development, making the switch is worth it. Whether you're a Scratch beginner or looking to take the leap into more advanced game engines, this video will show you what I learned along the way.
