John Paul Morrissey is an Irish composer, producer and song writer. Not easily defined, his work as Cardiogram runs a gamut of electronic and instrumental styles with material made as much for headphones as the dance floor. The common theme in his music is escapism and the different forms it takes. Whether that is to be with your own thoughts, or disappearing into a crowd, hidden and yet choosing to be a part of something bigger than yourself. What does escape mean to each of us and how do we achieve it?

His debut record Headland draws inspiration from the coastal landscape he lives in and is a Catherine wheel of sound design and beats, the synthetic and the organic married to undeniable melodies underpinned with a signature melancholy. Sometimes beautiful and haunting, sometimes blisteringly intense, Headland is a soundtrack for escape, wherever we seek it.
