US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller faced intense grilling from reporters on whether the American diplomacy had failed in the Middle East. What was interesting was how Miller made desperate attempts to defend his government.

His justification was bizarre to say the least. For example, Miller said that sometimes military offensive was also a took to push diplomacy. Then he said that the call for ceasefire was meant for both the parties in the region.
