There has been fierce competition to get into good universities in South Korea. This competition has created regional divide. It became a common sense that if you didn't live in Seoul, nor in Gangnam especially, you couldn't get into a good university. Korean students now gather in Daechi-dong, Gangnam, where hundreds of institutes are located, to get a better education.
