Vrasida is a small bay near Nea Peramos, on the edge of a peninsula, which the locals call by the same name. Apart from Vrasida, there are several other small beaches on the peninsula. The road to Vrasida is paved but in good condition and starts from the entrance to the old castle above Nea Peramos. The beach is about 200 metres long, sandy and has very shallow waters. In summer there is a taverna on the beach and it can be crowded.
Nea Peramos is a lowland, coastal town on the coast of the Gulf of Eleftheres, just 17 km south-west of Kavala, easily accessible by road. It is also connected to Thessaloniki, 145 km away. According to the 2011 census, 5,345 inhabitants lived here, including the small population of the settlement of Agios Athanasios (where Ammolofoi is located). The village is located 2 km outside Nea Peramos, but is considered part of Nea Peramos.
The main attraction in Nea Peramos is of course the beach of Ammolofoi in Agios Athanasios, which as we have already seen is currently considered the best tourist destination in northern Greece and attracts visitors from abroad. But when you come here you will find other beaches as well as an area with an important history.
The sand dunes with their fine, golden sand and shallow, clear and turquoise waters bring an unexpected air of exoticism to Eastern Macedonia. Even if it tends to get crowded in July and August, it is a beach that is justifiably famous and worth a dip. As we said, it is located in the small seaside settlement of Agios Athanasios, 2 kilometres outside Nea Peramos (to which it belongs).
But once you enter the area, it won't take you long to realise that the beach front is really wide. Another very nice and not very well known place where you can swim is Vrasidas beach, located on the peninsula of the same name between Nea Peramos and Ammolofon.
