Hi Guys!

Today, I'm in Grand Junction Colorado on vacation. I was told by a family member about a year ago that they understood that radioactive tailings had been used in the grout to build several buildings back in the 40's-50's

A little back story. Grand Junction Colorado was where all the uranium ore that was mined in Uravan was taken to be sorted and transported during the war effort and the nuclear age. The tailings, aka sand like material, were used by surrounding areas as a free fill dirt or used in construction materials.

In the 80's Grand Junction became a superfund site where remediation efforts took place to remove much of the tailings used as fill and such. Many buildings and some streets still have tailings in the building materials such as concrete. mortar and road beads under asphalt.

The town or Uravan wasn't so lucky to have structures spared. Hopefully that will be a video I can make while I'm back here next week.

Thank you for watching!
