If your wondering how to tie a boat to a dock then you clicked on the right video. In todays episode of Lake Life Quick Tips, I'll clearly explain how to tie 5 essential, must know boating knots, and how and when to use them.
I will clearly show how each knot is tied and include a knot tying animation.

I'll first detail how to tie a CLEAT HITCH, the most common knot used when docking your boat.
If a cleat isn't available, I'll teach you how to tie a DOUBLE HALF HITCH knot, this can be used to tie your boat to a post, rail, or a ring cleat.
I'll then demonstrate how to tie a BOWLINE. A really useful knot for creating a fixed loop in a rope. It tightens under tension while remaining easy to undo when the tension is released.
Next, you will learn how to tie a CLOVE HITCH, a useful knot for tying a dock fender to your boat rail.
Last but not least I'll explain how to tie a figure 8 knot, commonly used in sailing and boating to prevent a line from slipping through a hole.

As always my Lake Life Quick Tips Series takes place at my cottage on the shores of beautiful Lake of the Woods, in the heart of Canada's cottage country.
Hope you enjoy!
