I feel like I've said this a few times now, but I feel like I've been waiting 20 years for this to finally happen. One of my favorite young adult stories got turned into a movie, and honestly, I just feel sad for Scott Westerfeld that such a beloved story was turned into this. His work deserves so much more! Especially for how popular it was, and is. Netflix did not do a good job adapting this book. I was so disappointed because I REALLY wanted to like this movie! The music was pretty good. Some of the special effects were alright but a lot of them weren't good at all. The plot was a mess, and the butchered the characters and their arcs. It also felt so different than the book. They changed too much with the plot for the characters to have the same motivations for their actions. In their attempts to make Tally a better person, they also managed to make the story really boring and almost cliche. I wish they would stop trying to make great books into movies because it has been such a long time since anyone made on that felt like it did the original story justice!
