There are some fantastic driving and motorcycling roads in Northern England and this certainly one of the best.

Its a great road in any direction but I think better riding NE to SW as it gets better and better.

Starting from just outside Haydon Bridge, we pass the sharp bends above Cupola Bridge and ride into a picturesque valley with trees and cottages either side of you. The road then climbs gently out of the valley, trees become sparse and towards moorland offering great views into the valley below.

Following the contours of the hillside, this fast sweeping section of road is punctuated with sharp hair pins, and far too quickly you reach the summit and find yourself heading down into the next valley.

The last section before Alston offers gentle gradients, smooth roads and lazy bends.
