Im Oktober 2023 brachte LGB/Märklin für die Gartenbahner mit 99 0244-6 erstmals eine Neubau-Öllok nach dem Vorbild der Deutschen Reichsbahn (DR) als Großserienmodell heraus. Ein Jahr früher hat der Kleinserienspezialist Kiss als Metallmodell die 99 0236-2 DR ausgeliefert.
Beide Loks im unmittelbaren Vergleich sind in diesem Film zu sehen. Wichtig zu wissen ist, daß die Kiss-Maschine aufgrund ihres sehr vorbildgerechten Fahrwerkes erst ab Radius LGB R3 die Kurven durchfahren kann. Auch sonst ist die Maschine eine kleine Diva. Die Sandfall- und Kolbenstangenschutzrohre sorgen gern mal für einen Kurzschluß. Wer sich aber einmal in diese Maschine verliebt hat, kann nur noch schwer noch von ihr lassen. Ein sehr hochwertiges Modell.
Aber auch die LGB-Maschine braucht sich nicht zu verstecken. Optisch ansehenswert und robust konstruiert, ist sie ebenfalls ein Blickfang für die heimische Gartenbahn. Allerdings ist der eingebaute mfx-Decoder nicht Stand der Technik und eine Pufferung ist auch nicht vorhanden.
G-loco portrait (13): New DR oil locomotives from Kiss and LGB
In October 2023, LGB/Märklin released the first oil locomotive modeled on the German Reichsbahn (DR) as a large-scale series model for garden railway enthusiasts: 99 0244-6. A year earlier, the small series specialist Kiss delivered the 99 0236-2 DR as a metal model.
Both locomotives can be seen in direct comparison in this film. It is important to know that the Kiss machine can only drive through curves from radius LGB R3 onwards due to its very prototypical chassis. The machine is also a little diva in other ways. The sand fall- and piston rod protection tubes often cause a short circuit sometimes. But once you've fallen in love with this machine, it's hard to let go of it. A very high quality model.
But the LGB machine doesn't need to hide either. Visually attractive and robustly constructed, it is also an eye-catcher for the home garden railway. However, the built-in mfx decoder is not state of the technology and there is no buffering.
