Unfortunately, this ancient castle is no longer accessible. A private buyer bought the castle ruins, locked and walled it up. Now he has let the building rot away since decades. Another sad example of the wrong way of dealing with "history".

Information about history:

From 1368, the village of Prauss was owned by the von Borschnitz family for three centuries. They built the first Renaissance mansion in the 16th century. The structure was built on an artificial island surrounded by a moat filled with water.
In 1608, another member of the family built a new mansion, which was expanded by its next owners, the Lilgenau and von Zierotin families, who owned it until 1921.

In 1772, a fire destroyed the building, but it was rebuilt in the late Baroque style.

The palace had four rectangular, two-story wings surrounding a courtyard with hipped roofs and dormer windows.
The main entrance was decorated with a portal dating from 1608.

The palace was surrounded by a park with many exotic trees and the family tombs, of which nothing remains today. There was a small chapel in the palace, the remains of which are now in the church of St. Wawrzyniec.

After the end of World War II, the palace suffered the same fate as many other buildings. Nationalization and, as a result, neglect and destruction. In 1956, the dilapidated roof collapsed and the castle began to decay into a ruin.

The church was built at the end of the 13th century. The outer walls are covered with sgraffito. The organ and altar were moved to the church from the castle
