Museum Sejarah Jakarta adalah sebuah museum yang terletak di Jalan Taman Fatahillah No. 1, Jakarta Barat. Bangunan ini dahulu merupakan Balai Kota Batavia (bahasa Belanda: Stadhuis van Batavia) yang dibangun pada tahun 1707-1710 atas perintah Gubernur Jenderal Joan van Hoorn. Bangunan ini menyerupai Istana Dam di Amsterdam, terdiri atas bangunan utama dengan dua sayap di bagian timur dan barat serta bangunan sanding yang digunakan sebagai kantor, ruang pengadilan, dan ruang-ruang bawah tanah yang dipakai sebagai penjara. Tanggal 10 Juli 1710 bangunan gedung Balai Kota ini diresmikan oleh Gubernur Jenderal Abraham van Riebeeck sesuai dengan Prasasti yang ada di Museum Sejarah Jakarta. Pada awal berdirinya, gedung ini berfungsi sebagai“ StadHuis” ( Balai Kota ) dan “ Raad Van Justitie ” ( Dewan Pengadilan ). Pada tahun 1925 sampai dengan 1942 gedung ini digunakan sebagai kantor Provinsi Jawa Barat, tahun 1942 sampai dengan 1945 digunakan sebagai markas Dainipon, setelah kemerdekan 1945 sampai dengan 1963 digunakan sebagai kantor Gubernur Jawa Barat dan pada tahun 1964 digunakan markas TNI KODIM 0503 Jakarta Barat. Pada tahun 1972 diserahkan kepada pemerintah DKI yang kemudian diperbaiki dan digunakan sebagai Museum Sejarah Jakarta yang diresmikan oleh Gubernur DKI Bapak Ali Sadikin, pada tanggal 30 Maret 1974.
