Yesterday afternoon's Twins-Chisox tilt looked so good.

Beyond the 9-8 final score, suggesting that Chicago's 2022 isn't quite done like dinner, baseball played in daylight really is my go-to when looking for a neutral nine innings to pass the time. Add to that preference Steve Stone in the booth, a little Jason Benetti to give him a set-up, man, that's some good baseball right there.

Even with the South Siders not living up to expectations and a less-than .500 record raining on the parade, those two work as seamlessly together as any duo in the game. Leave it to the quick witted Stone to weave Moncada's dental guard and shoe colour scheme into a smart little lol to wrap up the defender's pick and chuck to first. Granted, I may be somewhat blinded to dad humour. My own "vintage" may indeed make me susceptible to the relative groan-factor of Stone's comedic stylings. Nevertheless, a mid-west aft at New Comisky was a perfect stage for such a hot corner chance. And that Stonie take, like all the Stonie takes that have gone down in that part of the country the last forty-ish summers, was the cherry on top.

Man, I love baseball.
