Martin Luther King Jnr. - now more affectionately known as MLK - is globally recognised for his tireless pursuit of civil rights and racial equality - while his 'I have a dream' speech is one of the most quoted ever.

But, during his lifetime, the majority of Americans had an unfavourable view of Dr. King - and only 22% were in favour of the March on Washington, where he delivered that famous speech, before the protest took place.
So how is it, that half a century later, Dr King is not just universally loved but even has his own national holiday?
This is the story of how Dr. King's radical beliefs and lifetime goals have been distorted or forgotten in a favour of a more palatable, stripped-downm and politically acceptable history.
