I had to call off work this year to chase the Nickel Plate Road 765 deadhead move on the W&LE but it was worth it! They didn't reach Medina til about 2pm due to a broken rail in Akron and an eastbound loaded stone train.

The first shot was River Styx trestle which I used for the second clip in this video. The first clip is from Lance Rd west of Medina where they are climbing a grade. Next I chase them to Root Rd on the east side of Spencer. I figured it be best to set up outside of town so I could quickly get ahead of them as they navigated the yard tracks inside Spencer. I beat them to Bursley rd on the west side where they opened up the throttle and gave one heck of a smoke show!

Last year I did the Wellington diamond so I went west to the overpass at Derussey Rd west of Clarksfield. They had to stop at Hartland yard to get bulletins into Bellevue. I could have gotten a shot of them going out of Hartland but I wanted to get a shot of them in Monroeville which I failed to get last year.

I stopped for lunch while they did the NS crew change at Bellevue. I filmed them coming out of town under the 269 overpass. I only got one other shot on NS tracks before dark since I did not know they were to meet an eastbound rack train. The closing shot, well after the sun set, was at road 11 west of the diamond of the NOW shortline.
