The street is the main north-south cycling corridor through the CBD, but the street itself caters mostly to pedestrians and is also the world's busiest tram corridor. There really shouldn't be any motorists on the street, but they do get lost from time-to-time and there's not much to stop them from entering. There was also quite a few police because the Government is worried about terrorism.
