I wanted to do a walnut potbelly bowl with a special feature ring. I made alternating chevrons from strips of padauk, purpleheart and yellowheart and it turned out pretty good. But, I wish that I had made the feature ring slightly taller. I used five 3/8" strips. If you attempt this design, I would recommend using at least seven strips at a minimum. I think you'll be happier with it.
