Hamilton New Zealand is a large metropolitan city about an hour southeast of Auckland City. It's actually a hub for transportation and travel that is situated between Auckland, New Plymouth, Rotorua, Taupo and Tauranga.

If you are a tourist you can catch an Intercity bus from Hamilton to each of the cities mentioned above. There are regular Intercity buses traveling to Auckland every day.

I have traveled through Hamilton many times and I have stayed in various accommodation facilities in the city. There is a casino in Hamilton. Waikato University is also situated in the city.
