Step-by-Step Process:
1. Prepare the Clay:
Start by kneading the clay with water to make it soft and pliable.
Make sure the clay is smooth, without cracks or lumps.
2. Shape the Body:
Roll the clay into a large ball for the torso and a smaller ball for the head.
Attach the head to the body using a small amount of water to smooth the joints.
3. Add the Limbs:
Roll thin pieces of clay for the arms and legs. Attach them to the body, ensuring they are secure.
Position the arms and legs in a seated pose.
4. Sculpt the Face and Trunk:
Shape the elephant trunk with a long piece of clay and attach it to the face.
Use small balls of clay to form the eyes and ears, and sculpt finer details using tools or toothpicks.
5. Make the Crown and Ornaments:
Sculpt a crown and ornaments with clay, adding details like lines or dots with a toothpick.
Attach these ornaments to the idol carefully.
6. Smooth and Refine:
Use your fingers or a soft brush to smooth the surface of the idol and remove any rough edges.
7. Decorate the Idol:
Once the idol is dry, you can decorate it with natural colors like turmeric, sandalwood paste, or flower petals.
8. Dry the Idol:
Let the idol air dry for 2-3 days in a shaded, cool area. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent cracking.
