In the past year, both the Chinese and Russian air forces have made significant progress in enhancing their fighter capabilities. Russia is developing a 'sixth generation' engine for the Su-57, while China is upgrading the Chengdu J-20 Mighty Dragon aircraft. These developments underscore the importance of the Next Generation Air Dominance initiative for the US Air Force now more than ever.

With a budget of over $4 billion allocated by Congress since 2015, the NGAD program aims to replace or modernize the existing F-22 fighter jets by 2030 to increase lethality and ensure air superiority.
