Lake Singkarak is a lake that stretches across two districts in the province of West Sumatra, Indonesia, namely Solok district and Tanah Datar district.

This lake has an area of 107.8 km² and is the second largest lake on the island of Sumatra after Lake Toba in North Sumatra. This lake is upstream of the river or Batang Ombilin. However, some of the lake water is channeled through a tunnel through Bukit Barisan to Batang Anai to drive the Singkarak hydropower generator.

Lake Singkarak is one of the results of tectonic processes that are influenced by the Sumatran Fault. This lake is part of the Singkarak-Solok Basin which is one of the segments of the Sumatran Fault. The basin of this lake was formed from a subsidence caused by the movement of the Sumatran Fault.
