Hi folks, welcome to the channel! Back to it following a very busy and cold few weeks, happy new year everyone!

In this woodworking video I will be making a cute little penguin which is also a percussion instrument using a woodturning lathe. The woods are padauk and sycamore maple with a small piece of blackwood for the beak.

I shaped and hollowed the body then parted the piece off. Next was another piece of padauk which I made into a stopper for the base before filling the body with rice and gluing it together.

Moving on to shape the head, sand and polish with Yorkshire grit abrasive paste then part off for the last time.
The beak was made from an off-cut piece of blackwood, glued in place and finally burnt on the eyes to finish.
