Cab view of the JR Iida Line from Kamikatagiri Station to Ina-Fukuoka Station.

I have previously uploaded cab views of the Iida Line. They are

   • 前面展望 飯田線核心部パート1 中部天竜→平岡 <cabview Japa...

   • 飯田線前面展望 平岡→駄科 <Cabview Japanrail Iida...

These two videos are taken in the central part of the Iida Line. This video is a sequel to that, and runs north on the north side of the previous two sections. I should have started this series from the end of the previous series, but I gave up due to time constraints.

The northern part of the Iida Line recorded this time runs through the wide Ina Valley. The Kiso Valley (along which the Chuo Main Line (West Line) runs) on the other side of the mountains on the west side of this valley is narrow and deep, while the Ina Valley where the Iida Line runs runs through the bottom of a wide valley. There is a folk song from the Ina region that sings, "The rice that is sent to Kiso is the surplus of Ina," which means that the Ina region is more environmentally favorable. Nevertheless, the Ina Valley is also a region sandwiched between high mountains. It is by no means a warm region.

The Iida Line is a line of about 200 km built by four private railways that was nationalized and merged into one. As a result, many stations were built, the track standards are weak, and there are many steep slopes and sharp curves. It is by no means a mountain line, but it is a line that would be difficult to drive on.

The cab view opens up little by little as the train travels north. I plan to upload a sequel to this section at a later date. August 2024
