1. Choosing the Right Hosting Plan:
RackNerd VPS Hosting:
The speaker recommends using RackNerd’s unmanaged VPS, which offers affordable options starting at $37.38 per year.
An unmanaged server is suggested for those comfortable following the tutorial, as it provides greater control and is more cost-effective than managed plans.
For larger sites or live streaming, the VPS package has enough bandwidth to handle up to 8,000-10,000 users at once.

2. Operating System Selection:
Users are instructed to select Ubuntu 22.4 as the operating system for the VPS. Ubuntu is favored for its stability and compatibility with hosting environments.
Server Location: Choose a location closest to your audience or where you are based to reduce latency (e.g., U.S. servers for U.S. users, France for European users).

3. Payment and Setup Process:
After selecting the VPS and configuring the server, an invoice will be generated. RackNerd accepts payment via PayPal, credit card, and cryptocurrency.
Once payment is completed, RackNerd sends several emails, including login credentials for the server and the RackNerd account.

4. RackNerd Account vs. Server Management:
RackNerd Account: Manages payments, hosting plans, and server configuration.
Server (Technical) Management: Separate from the RackNerd account, users manage the technical aspects (e.g., installing applications, security firewalls) through Putty and other tools.

5. Installing cPanel and WordPress:
After setting up the server, users are instructed to download Putty to log into the VPS with the root username and password provided in the email.

The video walks through installing cPanel (a user-friendly interface for server management) using command line tools.

Once cPanel is installed, the speaker explains that the rest of the setup will be easier as it shifts to a graphical interface. The ultimate goal is to use WordPress to build websites, upload large files, and host your own content.
