The blue calamintha bee (yes, blue!) is an extremely rare insect found only in Florida's sand pine scrub habitats. Researchers at the Florida Museum of Natural History are studying its biology and behavior to help protect this unique species. Fast-flying, fuzzy and deep metallic blue, the bee only visits certain plants, bobbing its head to collect pollen.
