John Hopfield's talk at the 1983 Meeting of the Corporate Associates of the American Institute of Physics, held at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center.

The year before, in 1982, Hopfield published his landmark paper on the same subject, "Neural networks and physical systems with emergent collective computational abilities." The Nobel Prize in Physics 2024 was awarded to John J. Hopfield and Geoffrey E. Hinton for foundational discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning with artificial neural networks.
