Joseph Backholm and Alison Centofante, contributors to the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute (JDFI), interview Pastor Jack Hibbs. Jack Hibbs is the senior and founding pastor of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, based in Southern California, the founder & president of Real Life ministry, and a nationally syndicated TV & radio host. Hibbs shares his take on the upcoming election and backs up his opinion with examples from the Bible. For the Christian who does not plan to vote in the November election, citing the "lesser of two evils” scenario, Hibbs has news for you. "Throughout Scripture, it has always been about picking the lesser of two evils. To vote is a biblically-based opportunity provided to us by God." Hibbs cites the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30) to bolster this point. When Jesus gives you opportunities (talents), and you choose to bury them while waiting for the Lord's return, like the unproductive servant, there will be severe consequences for not deploying the gifts God has provided. "So, when you don't vote," you're burring your opportunity," says Hibbs.

Moreover, says Hibbs, people have given their last full measure of devotion to the American ideal, and the least Christians can do is vote for the candidate whose platform best represents a biblical worldview. In this interview, Hibbs also speaks directly to the pastors of America. Speaking forcefully into culture and policy from the pulpit makes many clergy uncomfortable. But the minister must obey and convey God's truths. Church leaders are ultimately accountable not only to their congregations, boards, and elders but also to Almighty God, adds Hibbs. In the lead-up to the General Election, watch the full video interview for much more from Pastor Hibbs, and share it with your family and friends.
