The PROTON X70's recent update did indeed come with a powertrain update, but it also brought with it a surprise reintroduction of the Executive All-Wheel Drive variant. With four-paw power coming from the same 1.5-litre turbo-triple motor, the X70 Executive AWD aims to answer demands from not only the Eastern Malaysian states, but also for long-haul drivers here on the Peninsular who want the added security of four-corner traction.

But when it's all said and done, is it worth paying a premium for that system? Or would you be better off, like with so many, simply trusting the front-wheel drive models that make up the rest of the lineup?
