In this video, the principle of capacitance is developed, which establishes that the stored quantity of charges (ions), blood or air is proportional to the capacitance (of the organ or tissue) and to the potential difference (voltage) or pressure gradient at which is subdued. Among the most common applications are the polarity of the cell membrane, the resting membrane potential, depolarization and repolarization, the volume of blood stored in the veins (venous reservoir or venous capacitance), the volume of air in the lungs ( lung capacity).
