*Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Software Testing of a Trimaran Hull*
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) uses numerical analysis and algorithms to solve and analyze problems involving fluid flows. CFD software simulates the interaction of liquids with surfaces defined by boundary conditions.
The design and architecture of trimaran hulls present unique challenges in fluid dynamics due to their complex shapes and interactions with water.
The CFD software solves the Navier-Stokes equations (which describe the motion of fluid substances) numerically across the mesh elements. This simulation process computes the pressure, velocity, and turbulence fields around the hull.
The results of the simulation are analyzed and visualized. This includes examining pressure distribution, flow patterns, resistance forces, and potential areas of turbulence or cavitation.
CFD allows to test various hull shapes and configurations optimizing the hull design for better performance, stability, and efficiency before building physical prototypes.
