In 1776, when a certain other soon-to-be famous document was signed, Augustus Toplady published the lyrics to this beloved hymn (across the pond in England). It's been a fixture in hymnals for almost 250 years, and with good reason. It so clearly portrays God's grace to us. He is our refuge, our rescuer, and the King enthroned in Glory.
