The experience of an overseas basketball player will vary greatly depending on the level.

For high-level pros (e.g. EuroLeague, EuroCup), the treatment will be top-notch with great courts, amazing housing and big basketball salaries.

Whereas, beginner overseas hoopers will have a tougher go to start off.

Regardless, in this Day In The Life – I take you on my journey playing throughout China on a professional tour.

While this experience wasn’t necessarily an overseas basketball league per se, it still delivered many of the features of a professional hooper including:

• Food (three meals per day)
• Transportation
• Paid accommodations
• Free flights
• Free film
• Team commitments (practice, events)
• Salary bonuses

Tours can be a great way to get exposure, film and connections.

But make sure you double-check things a few things before you commit:

• Success rate
• Testimonials
• Cost
• Location
• Players
• Coaches (are they current coaches?)
• Time (are teams recruiting when you’re going?)
