Educational video for children that talks about three types of figurative speech--similes, metaphors and hyperboles--and how to use them. A simile is a literary device that compares using the words "like" or "as." For example, we use a simile when we say that someone is “fast as lightning.” Metaphors are a fun way of making a comparison without using the words “like” or “as”. For instance, we can say “Peter is a giant” to convey that Peter is very tall, or as tall as a giant. Hyperbole is a literary device that exaggerates a situation or characteristic to emphasize it. When you say “I'm so hungry I could eat a horse” you are using a hyperbole to say that you are very hungry. Can you think of more examples? I'm sure you use many in your daily life!

This video is a very useful and interesting resource for children. It is perfect for introducing the concept of figurative speech. It is an excellent video for elementary school.
