A wonderful poem composed by the saint Jaidev Goswami and sung by a few devotees in Mangarh on the mark of Basant Panchami in 1986. English translation provided below:

- Upon the arrival of the Spring season, a Gopi says to Shri Radha:
lalita lavanga lata parisheelana,
komala malaya sameere
madhukara nikara karambita kokila,
kujita kunja kuteere
(O Kishori Ji! How enchanting is this spring when breeze from the Malay mountains arrives and impetuously embraces the flower groves and creepers. These 'kunjs' resound with the sweet sounds of the cuckoo birds and the humming of bees as they bumble to and fro)

mrigamada saurabha rabhasa vashamvadanava-
dala maala tamaale
yuva jana hridaya vidaarana manasija,
nakha ruchi kimshuka jaale
(Adorned with new leaves, the tamala trees delight in diffusing their musk-like fragrance. The flame-like petals of the palaasa flowers, which resemble Kamdeva's fingernails, tear at the hearts of young Gopis)

chandana charita neela kalevara,
peet vasana vanamaali
keli chalan mani kundala mandita,
ganda yuga smita shaali
(Shyamsundar's golden 'peetambar' and garland of wild flowers contrast His dark-blue body which is smeared with sandalwood paste. Jeweled earrings dangling from His ears make His cheeks glitter, setting off the bewitching smile on His face)
