Wind above the park roofline blows out to McCovey Cove nearly every game. But inside the park the wind curls back toward home plate due to the “barrier effect” created by the 123-foot tall grandstands.
High fly balls above the rim of Oracle Park are most likely to catch the wind and sail out to center field. The reversal of the wind at field level does the opposite, knocking several feet off line drives.
