The Horsheheads Blue Raider Marching Ensemble proudly presents its 2019 show, Cathedral! Watch and listen as our 125 - member group celebrates the gothic architecture of our world's stunning cathedrals. Music includes, John Rutter's famous choral work, Gloria, Sir Karl Jenkin's Benedictus from The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, and closes with Camille Saint-Saens's Organ Symphony. The foundation is laid by our colorguard, dressed in greys and representing the building blocks of these enormous structures. Throughout our opener, pews, pillars, rock and stone come together to construct a cathedral. A gorgeous reveal during our ballad of a huge stained-glass window leads to the sun shining through it, represented by over-sized banners of pinks and yellows being run to the front of the field, framed by 12-foot pillars. A 10-member dance feature is also accompanied by trumpet and mellophone soloists who help set the mood leading up to a big impact section of the show. Our closer is a celebration of our constructed cathedral, as we saturate the field with stained-glass designs in our flags and formations.

We dedicate our show to the world's beloved Notre-Dame de Paris, whose spire and wooden roof suffered damage in a 15-hour fire on April 15, 2019.

The Blue Raiders are directed by Collin Smith and Allison Werner. The assistant director is Darby Thompson. Music is arranged by Rob Stein, Jason Johnson, and Dr. Gifford Howarth.
