When people say Comic Con, your mind automatically jumps to the likes of the world famous San Diego, maybe DragonCon or even the much-dunked-on DashCon. But all of those are in the US, so what about those comic fanatics, those vintage media fans, those scantily-clad cosplay babes who live elsewhere in the world? Where does everyone else go when con season hits?

MCM Comic Con is usually your answer. If you live anywhere in Europe, specifically: London, Birmingham, the Midlands, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Belfast, Manchester, Scotland, Stockholm, Malmö, Copenhagen, Belgium, and Hannover... then you'll probably know MCM as having a monopoly over the con scene. Anyone that is anyone attends MCM… or at least, everything that I'm saying is the subconscious belief held by most of the con-going community.

But why is MCM held to such an unquestionable standard? How do its cons compare to its American equivalent? How did it build its reputation as the con to go to and, perhaps more importantly, is it earned? Let’s take a look…
