Al Bandiero has long moved away from radio to concentrate on his television and movie acting career. In his prime, however, Al was on some truly great radio stations.

Bandiero was apparently in-between New York City gigs when he landed at WKBW Buffalo straight out of WXLO 99X New York. Writing this from memory of my personal listening habits, I recall Al Bandiero arriving sometime in the Fall of 1978 and staying until, maybe, early Summer of 1979? Perhaps he lasted a whole year.

Al had the 7-midnight show and he did the KB top 10 countdown every Tuesday night, which I used to write down and keep track of in a binder. I wish I could find that today. Geeky memories. Sheesh.

This is very heavily edited. The master copy, somewhere in several dozen boxes of cassette tapes, is an old Scotch brand C-60. I recorded it using a Sanyo table radio (one where the FM side was deaf) and a mini-jack cord to the mic/line-in jack of a Panasonic table dictation cassette recorder. Isn't that pretty much how all of us old aircheck guys did it? Side one of the cassette came out a little muffled. And, that sometimes would happen with cheap cassettes like the Scotch one I had, sometimes the tape wouldn't completely align with the record head. Side two was in excellent condition and when I find the original cassette I'l gently try to coax the recording into my modern studio processing.

I used Adobe Audition for all the audio you hear on these, and Wondershare Filmora for video editing. I run things these days through a vintage Rane processor. Its a real piece of hardware wired in between the Yamaha board and the computer. This particular recording was digitized (the first time) around 1997 using an old Windows 95 machine and some piece of digitation software that I can't even remember. It didn't come out the best, but since the source cassette has been playing peek-a-boo for the last 15 years, this is all I've got to work with.

Enjoy! And, please, if you can, like and share on facebook & Twitter and SUBSCRIBE to my channel!
