Day 3 of our road trip continued at the Grand Canyon - South Rim. We did the most popular hike there called Bright Angel Trail. The Bright Angel Trail offers wonderful views all along the trail making it very easy to lose track of how far down you have hiked. Additionally, the steepness of the trail is very misleading
on the way down. Plan on taking twice as long to hike up as it took to hike down.
Even though the Bright Angel has water along the trail, you need to carry water. The trail starts at an elevation of 6,850 feet and it has the following rest points:

-1.5 mile resthouse -1.5 miles (one way) at an elevation of 5729 feet
-3 miles restshouse - 3 miles (one way) at an elevation of 4748 feet
-Indian Garden - 4.5 miles (one way) at an elevation of 3800 feet
-Plateu Point -6 miles (one way) at an elevation of 3740 feet

Stats on this hike
-Time to complete 7 hours, 8 miles
-National Park fees, $80 for Annual pass
-Restroom at trailhead, and water
-Parking available around the trail (side of road).
-Dogs are allowed on a leash
-1 hour from Williams, Arizona.
-Lodging at the Grand Canyon. They are pricey and have to book ahead
