The Baltic Sea Philharmonic constantly nurtures and develops the creative potential of its musicians, and by doing so has become an orchestra that produces new music for itself. In November 2022 in Heringsdorf, on the island of Usedom, 15 Baltic Sea Philharmonic musicians came together for the orchestra’s first Creativity Lab. Under the guidance of Kristjan Järvi, the musicians worked with sound engineers to develop their understanding of recording equipment and electronic sound creation, as well as the sequencing and editing platform Logic Pro. The participants workshopped their ideas for new pieces and also developed improvisation techniques for integrating audio effects in the concert experience, both in transitions between pieces and as an additional sound element.

A second Creativity Lab took place in Pärnu, Estonia, in March 2023. The participants again worked alongside studio professionals but also had time to jam together and jointly create a new sound. A range of workshops and panel discussions included a session on breathing techniques.
