Thelma, a young Norwegian girl who grew up in a religious household, starts having inexplicable seizures soon after attending a university in Oslo. During this period, she develops romantic feelings for a female classmate named Anja, but she feels tremendous guilt because of her religious upbringing. When Anja disappears after Thelma undergoes tests to determine what's causing the seizures, Thelma discovers that she is manifesting extraordinary abilities that she cannot control.
