The first paste was made with
98% tomatoes
2% beetroot
The beetroot for colouring and to add to the thickness. Beetroot has alot of health benefits.
The second paste was made with
53% tomatoes
15% tatashe (red bell pepper)
15% pepper (scotch bonnet)
15% shombo/bawa (paprika)
2% Beetroot .
for the sweetness, sugar is what is used for sweetening all tomatoes paste. a healthier option will be jaggery powdered also called sugar cane powder.
I didn't use any sweetner in this, but you can decide to add a sweetner.
boil the tomatoes after blending on a low heat and cover half way as in jumps alot until the water drys.
