Habakkuk is expressing his frustrations at the evil he sees in Judah. He sees corruption and depravity at every corner. He sees violence and destruction. The people of Judah do not follow the law and injustice is a common experience. Everyone has forsaken God and pursue their own interest. And amid this depravity, Habakkuk has two questions for God. And his questions are the two questions we have when life is hard: How long and why? “God, how long are you going to let this happen? How long do I have to wait before you do something about it? How long shall I cry for help, and you will not hear? Why do you let this happen to me? Why do you not do anything about my situation?”
