Located just southwest of Isla Mujeres, Manchones Reef is one of the most popular dive sites in the Cancun area. This shallow, fishy reef stretches half a mile some 30 to 40 feet below the sea. Divers of all experience levels can come here to swim with a variety of angelfish and parrot fish and explore fields of staghorn and brain coral. This reef is the site of the picturesque Cruz da la Bahia, a large bronze cross erected underwater next to the reef as a memorial to local islanders who have died at sea.
