A silent film by D Darian Smith of Adelaide, made between 1942 and 1945.
Scenes include trams, trolley buses, traffic and pedestrians at the corner of King William Street and Hindley Street, looking west towards the Colonial Mutual Life building.
Also includes several short scenes looking east along Rundle Street, with the York and Savoy theatres visible amongst other buildings.

Douglas Darian Smith (1900-1984) was a noted commercial photographer. The State Library of South Australia's Darian Smith collection features extensive aerial photography of Adelaide and regional South Australia. A remarkable visual record, the collection illustrates the changing landscape, urbanisation and development of the city and South Australia from the 1920s until the early 1980s when he retired. Some of his photographs can be viewed at: https://collections.slsa.sa.gov.au/fi...

His 16mm films from the 1930s and 1940s were made for personal interest rather than as part of his professional work.
