This operation may be the most impressive I have visited personally for coloring mulch. Through the use of innovative methods and state of the art equipment, they are able to create staggering stockpiles in short order and minimal overhead. One loader and operator is all that's needed to run 500+ yards an hour of colorized mulch flat out through.
The Color Pro trommel has a 15+ yard hopper allowing full roll out buckets to be dumped. An auger evenly distributes the material into the drum preventing surges. There is a sensor in the hopper to detect when material isn't present cutting off colorant flow and water flow so the operator doesn't have to panic when something comes up forcing them to stop loading. All the colorant pump equipment is enclosed and run through the operating system. You can see how they have multiple totes connected through a manifold because the production is so fast they'd burn through a colorant tote in as little as two hours. Production is 500+ yards an hour and the business owner state they have broken 700+ yards an hour before with ideal conditions.
The RTS80 stacking conveyor is incredible too. It's not a run of the mill stacker. The hopper has tracks to help aide in yard mobility. The hopper also has hydraulic adjustment for taller or shorter feeding conveyors. The front wheels automatically pivot from straight to sideways for stockpiling. I didn't realize it until seeing this machine in person, but under the top of the conveyor is a sonar system that looks like a cowbell. It automatically detects the pile height and adjust the hydraulic cylinders automatically to keep the discharge height consistent preventing collisions with the pile or being too high and material to blow away. The stacker automatically pivots in-between to metal waypoints. If you think of them like wheel chocks, the machine detects when it's made contact and then pivots the other way to eliminate stockpile segregation. Truly top notch innovation and implementation.
