He remembers a conversation he once had with the late Howard Cosell, the legendary voice of Monday Night Football. Cosell scolded him for "wasting" his time on football films.

"You should be doing films that are socially relevant," Cosell boomed. "Films of larger importance."

"Such as?" Steve asked.

Cosell looked at him balefully and replied: "You should do a film on me."
